2020 Reflection

Hello everyone, I will be talking about the school reflection. Reflection is basically what you think, and what happened. We can add main events that happened at school, or for example the subjects that you did. We have to write about our reflection on Hornby High School. Many things happened this year, like the COVID-19 lock down and we have to do classes in online.

Here is my reflection:

How me and my friends met:

This year I made new friends, me and Jhrnylle met Cate, Shontai, Jaren, Eunize, Lucy, Linny. Me, Jhrnylle, Cate and Shontai we're classmates. Me and Jhrnylle already know each other, both of us met Cate and Shontai at the field. Me and Jhrnylle were dancing a song called 'What is love' by twice, and it's a K-POP song. I was teaching Jhrnylle the dance moves. Suddenly Cate and Shontai went up to us and Cate said that she know the song that me and Jhrnylle were dancing in to. We started hanging out because we were also classmates.

Me, Jhrnylle, Cate and Shontai met Jaren at hurumanu 4, AL, BN and SK is joined together for hurumanu subjects and tech. While at hurumanu 4, Lhysette introduced Jaren to us. When we first met, Jaren was a type of shy person.

Subjects:

Hurumanu 1 (Reading / Social Sciences):

I learned many things about History, Hurumanu 1 was a very interesting hurumanu because we get to learn more things about the history. I learned about different Protests, and also the WW1 and WW2. One of the most important Protests that happened in New Zealand is the Parihaka. We also have to create some D.L.O's, like for example a slideshow. Most of our tasks were to answer the questions about the topic that we have and create a D.L.O about it. I mostly did slideshows, but before we start answer the questions. We have to explore the links that they told us to explore. I have learned many things about history in hurumanu 1.

Hurumanu 2 (Reading / Drama):

Hurumanu 2 was a fun hurumanu, because we get to do a play in drama class. Me, Jhrnylle, Cate and Shontai did a play about 'Bullies'. We need to form 4 people in each groups, and we have to act out the character that we have. There is 4 characters that needed to be acted out, the characters of the play was Grynd, Stryk, Kuff and Boot. I was Grynd and Jhrnylle was Stryk, Cate was Kuff and Shontai was Boot.

Hurumanu 3 (Writing / Science):

We did a lot of fun experiments on hurumanu 3 like for example, the dry ice experiments. While that experiment, I learned that the dry ice isn't made by water. That's why it's called dry ice. We also did the egg drop challenged, basically. We have to build a lego rover, a lego rover that will protect the egg. We have to pretend that the egg is us, so when it cracks that means you are dead. It was fun constructing the lego rover.

We also did lots of writing in hurumanu 3, because hurumanu 3 is a mix of writing and science. We did some reading activity, and we also answered the questions that they have for us to answer and make a D.L.O about it. One of the tasks that I did was about mars rovers.

Hurumanu 4 (Write / Visual Arts):

I think I enjoyed hurumanu 4, because one of my hobbies are arts. Like painting, or drawing. In hurumanu 4, we focused on poetry and the colours. We get to paint the primary colours and the complementary colours. We did a little bit of painting, but I learned many different poetry. One of the poetry is called Haiku poem.

Hurumanu 5 (Maths / PE):

I learned a lot of maths in hurumanu 5, because Hurumanu 5 is a mix of Maths and P.E. We mostly did maths, and less P.E. At least I have learned a lot about Geometry and Probability. In my opinion, I liked learning geometry, because I think it's simple and easy to learn. My favourite thing in all maths stuffs is probably g

Hurumanu 6 (Maths / Health):

In hurumanu 6, I liked learning about health. We get to research about a health condition that some people has, it can be deadly. Our task was to create a D.L.O about the health condition that we chose to research about, the health condition that I researched about was very interesting. The health condition that I chose was: Depression, Lung Cancer and Flu. Not all people have these health condition, but unfortunately. Depression is also a health condition, because some people have depression for some reason.

B&E - Business Enterprise

This year, I experience running a business with a group of people. My teammates were Elisha Mae, Losalini and Stephanie. Our business were basically like a gift bag, a cultural gift bag. We made more than 1 gift bags. We had about 2 bags, that is themed in different countries. We did Philippines, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand and Fiji. Each bag contained 1 scented candle, 1 pencil, 1 loom band braclet, 3 stickers, 1 note facts about the culture and candies.

Thank you for reading this post about my reflection of this year. Bye.

Typhoon Vamco

Hello everyone, this post is about Typhoon Vamco. Typhoon Vamco is a typhoon that went across Philippines to Vietnam.

In hurumanu 1, which is social science and reading. We have to finish the Christchurch Earthquake task, which I have already finished. If we have already finished the Christchurch Earthquake task, we have to make a D.L.O about a disaster that happened anywhere in the world. The disaster that I chose to make a D.L.O about is Typhoon Vamco as you can see in the title.

Basically, Typhoon Vamco is a very dangerous typhoon that struck Philippines and Vietnam. Everyone who lives in Philippines and Vietnam have to immediately evacuate. There was many deaths and injured and some people were missing. The typhoon started at the Northwest of Palau, and went came across Philippines and landed in Vietnam. Both countries were damaged, Luzon was the most damaged place in Philippines.

Even if the flood was weakened, there's still a chance that it might reach other islands.

For my D.L.O, I created a slideshow. Here is a link for the slideshow that I created about Typhoon Vamco: Link

Question: If you have a chance of helping people that was affected in the Typhoon, what would you do?

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you have learn't something about Typhoon Vamco. Bye!

Christchurch Earthquake 2011

Hello everyone, in hurumanu 1 (Social Science & Reading) we started to learn about the earthquake that happened in Christchurch at 2011. A big earthquake hit Christchurch, which leads lost of buildings being damaged.

We have to research about the Christchurch Earthquake with the sites that they found, after we have information. We have to write it in a document that they instructed us to make a copy and answer the questions in the table.

Here is my work

How have the Christchurch earthquakes had an impact on our city?

The Christchurch earthquake affected our city because of the damaged buildings, and the damaged furniture. The government loses money, because they also have to support the people who have lost their home or it has been damaged.

It also affects many people, because most of their stuff and houses are all ruined. It was big chaos when the earthquake hit Christchurch. If they don’t have anywhere to live, I guess they have to rely on the government or the prime minister.

What positives or negatives have come from the quakes?

Negative:

Some people have lost their homes, they have to rely on the government. Some buildings have collapsed, and it might be one of their shops that they were working hard to make build.

The house that collapsed might be their grandmothers house, and it’s all ruined. That house might be the only thing that her/his grandmother have left to them.

About 185 people were dead, which is honestly a lot. There are about a thousand people who are injured. Some people might be working in a tall building, and they might be on the top floor. The building might be collapsing and they have to evacuate fast, and I think a lot of people might get injured or they might have died.

The Christchurch Earthquake was so deadly that it was also one of New Zealand’s darkest days.

Positive:

The positive thing is that some people survived or escaped from the earthquake, but some are injured but at least they are still alive. Some people are working together to change New Zealand.

People are now training for the upcoming earthquake, most of the schools are now doing an earthquake practice drill.

What are some changes that citizens have made to prevent damage happening from potential future earthquakes?

Some people are planning to make New Zealand a sustainable place like for example, some people are starting to create an eco friendly cafe. That would help the earth.

I think people have been making changes by building a strong building. I don’t think that people can prevent the earthquake from coming, because it’s the earth.

What have you learned from the work you have done?

Earthquakes are very dangerous, people can die or get injured. Some lucky people manage to escape in a collapsing building, some people tragically die. People are trying to make new changes to New Zealand, like an eco-friendly place.

Thank you for reading this post about Christchurch Earthquake, bye.

Margaret Mahy

Hello everyone, in Wanagna we had a new task to do. It's a EOTC Week task board, if you haven't heard. Our EOTC starts next week. We will be going in 3 places, which is Jelly Park, Margaret Mahy and Christchurch City Centre. So we had to choose a task board and make a D.L.O about it, and after we have finished it we have to blog it so that people can see our work.

The task board that I chose is about Margaret Mahy, they prepared a task for us to do and make a D.L.O about it. I made a slideshow about Margaret Mahy. Margaret Mahy is a very famous New Zealander author, she has made lots of awesome children books and also young adult.

Here is a screenshot of one of the slides I worked on: Link

Question: Have you ever read one of Margaret Mahy's book? Which book?

Thank you for reading this post about Margaret Mahy, bye.

Protest / Mr John Minto

Hello.
In hurumanu 1, we worked on protests that happened in New Zealand. Protest is someone who says a statement about their objections, one of the biggest protest that happened was the Parihaka and also the Women's Suffrage. We had to read an article about all of the main protests that happened in NZ, here is the link to that article if you want to read what it says there. In the article, it shows many different protest that happened the Great Strike was also involved in there.

Here is the slide show that I worked on about the protest:

Mr John Minto:
John Minto had an important role in the Springbok Tour Protest. South African's didn't let South Africans join the All Blacks team, and the All Blacks didn't let black Maori join the South African's team.

Mr John Minto protested with other 300 people, he was wearing a blue helmet. While in the protest, angry rugby supporters started attack John Minto, which is was bad. He's helmet was damaged, because some people was hitting him.

Which protest is are you interested in?

Thank you for reading this post, bye.

Japan Slideshow

Hello everyone,

In Homeroom (HR for short), we studied about Japan. So we have to study about Japan and make a D.L.O about it. I already know a little bit of things about Japan I guess. We can research about the Japan's history, tradition or something popular in Japan.

I used slideshow to make a D.L.O about Japan, I researched about the capital city of Japan (which is Tokyo) and some more popular things in Japan.

Here is the D.L.O I made about Japan:

Japan Slideshow

What I think of Japan:

I think Japan is a very unique country, because there are many crazy inventions that they made. It's shocking that there is about 300 kit-kat flavours in Japan.

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you have learn't something new about Japan.

Bye.

Navigation In Earth

Hello everyone, this post is about navigation in earth. Navigation in earth is part of our tasks in hurumanu 3, which is Science and writing.

Navigation In Earth

What is a magnet?

Magnet is an iron metal that attracts other metal, if the iron spins all the same way. It creates a magnetic field, and it attracts other metal.

Draw a magnetic field around a bar magnet:

Remember which way magnetic field lines on a magnet travel

How does compass find North?

There is liquid metal spinning inside the earth, which creates a magnetic field. The compass lines up to the magnetic field and it will point in the north direction.

How can you make a compass?

In our class we did an experiment of making our own compass, we need water, a needle, plastic bow, paper and a magnet. We rub the magnet on the needle for 5 minutes, and we pour the water in the plastic small bowl. After 5 minutes we get a small piece of paper and put the needle on top of it and we have to put it in the water, and try not to sink it or else it will fail.

Spheros on Mars

Hello everyone, this blog post is about Mars. We have another task to do, and the task that we have to do was make a D.L.O about the questions that they prepared for us to answer. The questions are Mars related, and we mostly focused about robots that. The type of D.L.O that I made was a google slide.

Here is the D.L.O that I created:

Question:
Are you interested in Mars Rovers?

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you have learn't something new.

Mexican Mince/Nachos

Hello everyone, this post is about  were what we did in cooking class. It's also called as Cooking Technology. In cooking class, we made nachos which is also called as Mexican Mince. I'd prefer to called it as Nachos.

Here is a picture of nachos to show what it looked like:

Here is a screenshot of the nachos recipe:

My teammates were Jhrnylle and Truby, we we're only a group of 3. We managed to successfully make nachos.
The nachos smelled like Mexican flavour, well it tasted okay. Making nachos was a little bit confusing, but it was great experience because I finally learned how to make nachos.

Thank you for reading this post, bye.

Navigation In Space Results

Hello everyone, this post is about the results of the bucket head challenge. This bucket head challenge is part of our learning, so we have to experience walking a straight line with a blind fold and a bucket on

Results:

The time that I put a bucket on my head, I felt like I was lost because I couldn't see. I was nervous that something bad might happened to me, but luckily I picked the right person for me to stop me in any danger that is coming up. My partner was Cate. I walked as straight as I can. After for a while I finally reached the end, I took awhile trying to walk in a straight line. They said that I was walking in zigzags, so that means that my hypothesis was right. I knew that I was gonna walking a zigzag because I was unsure where I was going since I lost my senses. We walked back to the starting line and some people were walking in zigzags and in circle.

Thank you for reading this post, bye.

Life On Mars Reading Activity

Hello everyone, this post is also about Mars related. Our task was to read a story of someone experiencing how to survive in Mars by going to a desert and doing some tests there, after we have read the story we have to answer 3 questions that they prepared for us to answer and share it to our blog. The answer for these questions can be found in the story, that's why we have to actually read it and understand it.

In your own words, summarise what happens at the Mars Desert Research Centre.

So in the Mars Desert Research Centre, they had to study all about geology, biology and astronomy. 6 people stays at the station for 2 weeks. You might be wondering where they sleep? They actually sleep in some sort of building called 'hab', that is shaped like a cylinder. With bunk rooms and laboratories for them to study. Every time they had to go outside, they need to wear their spacesuits and helmets for their safety.

Why did Haritina find difficult about at the research centre? Why?

Haritina found it difficult because they have to do many tasks, like up to nine jobs.

Why do you think it is important for astronauts to practice in an environment like this before heading into Space?

It is important to practice before going to space because you might forget what your supposed to do. Like for example you accidentally forgot how to wear the spacesuit. Because it might be hard to wear it.

Thank you for reading this post, bye.

Health Concerns

Hello everyone, this blog post is about health concerns. Our task was to create a D.L.O about health concerns, and the one that I chose is about depression.

The reason why I chose depression it's because, some people are actually suffering in depression. Because in New Zealand, there's about 9 percent of high school students that attempted suicide. Because they might have been bullied repeatedly. For some people, they might have just given up and became depressed.

Here is a link for the slideshow that I made about depression:

Thank you for reading this post, bye.

Navigation In Space

Hello everyone, this blog post is about navigation in space. We have a new challenge for us to do tomorrow in Science. The new challenge is called 'Bucket Head Challenge'.

Aim: Can I navigate in a straight line without my senses.

We also need equipment, the equipment that we need is:
- Bucket
- Cotton wool
- Blindfold
- Safety partner (A safety partner that you can trust).

Instruction:
1- Put the cotton wool in your ears and nose.
2- Put on the blindfold.
3- Put a bucket our your head.
4- Get your safety person to spin you 3 times and line you u with the flag.
5- Begin to walk in a straight line.
6- Write down how you did, and how you felt.
We have to get all of those equipment ready, and put it on. Our goal was to try to walk in a straight line with the blindfold, cotton wool and the bucket.

Questions:
1- What are your five senses?
The five senses are hear, see, touch, feel, smell. We use these senses to detect the environment.

2- How do people get lost in the jungle?
People might get lost in the jungle because it's either because they wanders too much, or it's because it might be their first time going to the jungle and they don't recognise the environment.

3- Do you have anything special about your legs?
I'm actually not sure if there is something special about my legs, but our Science teacher said that everyone's leg isn't even. One is longer than the other one.

Hypothesis:
I think that I will walk in a zigzag because I might be not sure where to go, like I might get lost.

Thank you for reading this post, bye.

Navigation In Space - Science [Hurumanu 3]

Hello! In Science, we were tasked to answer the questions that they prepared for us and answer it on our blog or in a google doc. The questions are space related such as the solar system. Like for example, the Mars is part of our solar system

What is a Solar System?

Solar System - Wikipedia

Solar system involves the sun, stars and the planets. The planets are in a specific order. The order is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. We are the third planet in the solar system which is the earth. The solar system is full of asteroids, comets and meteoroids. There are also many milky ways and galaxies.

What is the Milky Way an example of?

Milky Way Galaxy: Facts About Our Galactic Home | Space

The milky way is an example of a galaxy, and our solar system is part of the milky way.

What is a star?

Study of distant galaxies challenges the understanding of how stars form

A star is a glowing ball of gas. It is made from mostly hydrogen and helium. Which are bound together by its own gravity. It is supported by Nuclear fusion reaction against gravity. Producing photons, heat and small particles of denser elements.

Describe a nebula

What Is a Nebula? | NASA Space Place – NASA Science for Kids

Nebula is a big cloud of dust and gas, the cause of nebula is the dying star’s explosion. So when the star explodes, it creates a big cloud of dust and gas which is called ‘Nebula’.

How do stars die?

Astronomers spot last gasps of dying star - CSMonitor.com

Stars die because they run out of hydrogen, if they run out of hydrogen the star dies and explodes which creates nebulae.

Is there an up and down in space?

How Cold Is Outer Space?

There up and down in space. Down is a way of gravity pulling you down. Up is the opposite way.

How can stars be used to navigate?

How to navigate using the Stars - The Natural Navigator

They can use stars to navigate by finding the 3 separate stars. For example, one of the stars is called the Northern Star. It’s also known as the Polaris star.

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you have learn't something new about navigation in space.

Bye.

Daylight Savings

Hello everyone, this post is about daylight savings. Daylight savings basically happens every year in New Zealand and many other countries. Daylight savings in New Zealand is when the time is an hour earlier than the real time. Our tasks was to answer the questions that they prepared for us to answer and blog about.

This is two of the questions I answered.

1. When does Daylight Savings happen each year in New Zealand?

Daylight savings in New Zealand happens each year at 2am on the last Sunday in September. Daylight savings ends on the first Sunday of April.

2. What year did it start in NZ?

Daylight saving first happened in New Zealand in 1927.

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you have learn't something new about daylight savings. Bye.

Communication In Space

Hello everyone, this blog post is about what we did in hurumanu 3 which is science. In Science, we are learning about communication in space. The teachers provided some questions for us to answer, its also space related.

What are some ways we communicate on Earth? Pick 3
Telephone/Mobile phone - We can use telephone to communicate people in online, by calling or chatting.

How do these forms of communication work, what do they rely on or use?
If they use telephone, they would actually rely on the electrical signal. Because if you don't receive the signal, you won't be able to call with someone you want to call with.

Why can nobody hear you shout at space?
Well eventually, no one can hear you if you shout in space. It's because, Mars and Earth has a long distance between each other.

Is radio communication instant? Why/Why not?
Radio communication can be also instant or sometimes not, because it depends if the signal sends fast.

What does this mean for space missions from Earth to Mars?
Well communication in space is a bit hard, because if someone is in Earth and they tried to communicate with an astronaut in space using their device. That would actually take a long time for the astronauts to get the signal from the earth. That would take months.

Thank you for reading this post about communication in space, bye.

Parihaka

Hello everyone, this blog post is about Parihaka. Parihaka is basically a peaceful village, there was no fighting. Our task was to learn more about Parihaka and answer the questions that my teacher prepared, like for example 'where is Parihaka located (Answer: Parihaka is located at the North Island)'. We had to answer 13 questions and blog it.

Here is the work I have done:

  1. What events lead up to Parihaka being established?

They established Parihaka for those people who have no where to live, like for example the European people confiscated their land. So they established Parihaka as a peaceful place for everyone to freely live in.

  1. What was the ideas behind setting up Parihaka

Their idea to set up Parihaka was to make it peaceful, like no fighting. Just a peaceful place that people can live in. But until when the European soldiers attacked them.

They set up Parihaka for the people who had lost their land/homes.

  1. Who established Parihaka?

Te Whiti o Rongomai and Tohu Kakahi are both leaders, and both of them established Parihaka and made it a peaceful place.

  1. Where is Parihaka located?

Parihaka is located in the North Island near Plymouth.

  1. When did the invasion of Parihaka occur?

About 1600 European troops attacked Parihaka on the 5th of November in 1881.

  1. How do you think the people of Parihaka were feeling when the troops entered their village?

The people of Parihaka were just calm, and it shows how peaceful they were. They greeted the troops and most of them were sitting on the ground, while the childrens were singing and dancing.

  1. Do you think stories about the event of 5th November 1881 were reported on by the media at the time?

On the 5th of November the media wasn’t even invented that time, the media was invented in 1920. They didn’t have any television, but there were newspapers. They might have interviewed the european soldiers because the people from Parihaka were sent away and some were imprisoned.

  1. How long were Te Whiti and Tohu imprisoned? Where? What did they intend to do when they returned to Parihaka?

Te Whiti and Tohu were imprisoned for about 6 months in Addington Gaol which is located in Christchurch. When Te Whiti and Tohu finally returned they

  1. What was the impact on Maori when the New Zealand Company and other representatives of “The Crown” confiscated or purchased land very cheaply from Maori? What happened to Maori who lost their land.

The Maori people got triggered because the New Zealand Company just bought their land very cheaply. Maori people were expecting the New Zealand Company would pay them with a big amount of money.

10) How do you think the New Zealand wars impacted on iwi and groups of people who were no longer able to live on their whenua?

Maori people might be feeling sad and triggered because they destroyed their spiritual buildings, or like historic places.

11) What does the word PEACE mean to you? What is “passive resistance”? What does the phrase mean?

Peace is like where everyone is just calm, they are not angry. Peace is also like no wars or fights. Passive resistance is like a person who just wants everything peaceful, like non-violent.

12) What other ways are there to solve major issues between people / countries that do not use violence as a way of controlling others or solving problems?

You can solve major problems by actually talking about it, or make some sort of deal that they won't fight anymore.

13) Who are some of the other world leaders who have used passive resistance? What was their cause and how is it peaceful?

Mahatma Ghandi was an Indian lawyer. Gandhi protested to the British people to treat Indian people evenly.

Thank you for reading my blog post, I hope you have learn't something new about Parihaka.

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog post.

This post is about Niue, Niue is a small island country that is located in the South pacific ocean.I made a slideshow about Niue, like for example the capital city of Niue and the numbers. I firstly reached some information about Niue like places, numbers and the history about Niue.

Here is a link to access in my slideshow:

Questions:
- Would you like to visit Niue?

Gold Rush / Chinese Miners

 Hello everyone,

Welcome back to my blog post, yesterday I created a blog post about gold rush. It's still the same topic but different information. This is going to be about how other countries went to New Zealand to get gold from the gold rush.

Back in the days, there was a gold rush in Otago. Many different countries travelled to New Zealand to get gold from Gabriel's Gully, and China was part of those countries who went to New Zealand for the gold rush.

This is the task that we have to finish and post it in our blog:

Choose 4 discoveries you have made about Gold Mining and 4 discoveries you have made about the Chinese & their role in shaping Aotearoa New Zealand.

Here is 4 things that I learn't about Gold Mining:

1 - Gold mining wasn't easy, because they have to face many problems. Like the rain and the mud.

2 - Gabriel Read was the person who first discovered the gold in Otago.

3 - The gold rush is located in Otago at Gabriel's Gully.

4 - The gold rush was named after Gabriel Read, that's why it's called Gabriel's Gully.

Here are some Chinese facts:

1 - In the 1866 there was only about 200 Chinese miners that went to Otago to get some gold from the gold rush,

2 - At 1868 more Chinese miners arrived at Otago to mine for gold.

3 -  There was about 5,000 (five thousand) Chinese miners in total that came to New Zealand.

4 - Not only Chinese miners came, some Chinese business came.

Thank you for reading this post, I hope that you have learn't something new.

Bye.

Gold Rush

 Hello everyone,

Welcome back to my blog post. This blog post is about the gold rush that happened back in the days.

This term, we have a new task board and it's all about gold rush. The level that i'm doing is level 3/4, our first task is to create a blog post and create a brainstorm about gold rush. Like for example where the gold rush started and what year. We also have to explain what discrimination means.

Here is a brainstorm that I created about the gold rush.

Gold mining - Wikipedia

The gold rush in New Zealand is located in Otago. Gabriel Read first discovered the gold rush at 1861. It's also known as the Otago Gold Rush.

Gold rush is basically like you have to mine for the gold and when you find the gold you get to keep it. It takes a lot of hard work though.

What is discrimination?

Discrimination is like a racist person who judges their appearance, like for example someone judges their gender.

Thank you for reading this post, I hope that you learnt something new about the Otago Gold Rush.
Bye.

Business Enterprise / Market Day

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to my blog! This post is about the business enterprise.

Business enterprise is when we have to create a business it can be anything, like cultural or social. We have to be in a group of four to start doing our bussiness enterprise plan. My teammates were Elisha (aka-also known as my sister), Losalini / Linny and Stephanie. Elisha was the CEO, Losalini/Linny was the production manager. Stephanie was the marketing manager and I was the finance manager.

The marketing day was happening in September 23, and we have to get all of our products ready here is a picture of our stand
Summary of the day.
- The market day was very sunny, and it was also very crowded. It was fun in the market day because we get to buy people's product, like slime and stuffs. There was also foods.

What did you like
- I like the part where we can buy any product from different Kahui (Riroriro, Mohua, Tieke). People we're also creative because of the logo and the wrapping part.

What would you change for the next time?
- I would change our product and the price of our product, because our product is a like a many stuffs in one package. Our company name is Chie Gifts (blessed with wisdom). It would be better if we didn't do like a gift bags because it also cost a lot. If we separate them, we would get a big profit.

How must did it cost to make your products/services? How much did you borrow?
- All the products that we both costed 20 dollars. We borrowed 19 dollars.

How much money did you mark on Market Day?
- We made about 27 dollars by our product.

What was your total profit?
- We earned 27 dollars but we have to give 20 dollars to the bank which makes our profit $7.

Was this what you expected? Why/why not?
- I expected that our profit is $7, because before we made the product we figured out our profit.

What could have influenced this?
- The reason why we made $7 dollars its because of the quantity of our product. We only had 9 gift bags and it cost $3 each. 7x3=27-20=$7.

Thank you for reading this post, bye!

Te Whare Tapa Wha

 Hello everyone,

Welcome back to my blog. This post is about Te Whare Tapa Wha, it's like a Maori word and it means "Health and well being".

There is Te Taha Hinegaro (Mental well being), Te Taha Wairua (Spiritual well being), Te Taha Tinana (Physical well being) and Te Taha Whanau (Family and social connection). It's like pillars of the house, when you try to build a house without pillar your house will just collapse.

Here is a picture that related to Te Whare Tapa Wha.

Te whare tapa wha

For our task, we are supposed to create an example of how we show Te Whare Tapa Wha.

Here is my work:

Te Taha Hinegaro (Mental well being): I normally draw on my sketch pad because it makes me relax. Like for example I just draw outfits.

Te Taha Wairua (Spiritual well being): I show Te Taha Wairua by praying everytime before eating my food, I also pray before sleeping at night. Also going to church.

Te Taha Tinana (Physical well being): I show physical well being by walking.

Te Taha Whanau (Family and social connection): I show family and social connection by hanging out with my family, e.g. going shopping.

Whenua (Land, roots): I show whenua by being connected with my friends and family, e.g. being in contact with them.

Thank you for reading this post, goodbye!

Becoming A Martian

Hello,

Welcome back to my blog, this blog is about Mars. I am going to explain what we did in hurumanu 3 with Miss Bremner and Mrs Allan.

We had to a read some sort of story that gives information about Mars, e.g. facts about Mars. We have to answer 5 questions that are related in the story, and we have read the story clearly so that I can find the answer.

Here is my answers for the questions:

1. When can a mission to Mars (or from Mars) happen? Why?
Every twenty-six months is the only way to go to Mars because they are close together and you wont need to stay in the spaceship for so long to reach Mars.

2. What are two geological features of Mars?
Mars is also known as the red planet because of it's colour.
Olympus Mons is the largest volcano in the universe (from Mars).

3. What is one possible solution form the story about oxygen on Mars?
NASA was planning to send a machine that produce oxygen by 2020.

4. If it doesn't rain on Mars, where does the water come from?
The water in Mars is underneath, they have to dig for it melt the ice and clean it so that they can drink it.

5. How will people get food on Mars? What is a possible solution.
If they will bring their own food it will last for twenty-six months.

Questions:
Do you want to go to Mars? Why?

That's all for this post, I hope you have learnt something new.
Bye!

Novel Study

 Hello readers

Welcome back to my blog, today I am going to share you what we have been doing in Hurumanu 2. Hurumanu 2 is drama and reading. The novel that my group was focusing on was 'Rain fall'. Rain fall is an interesting book that was wrote by Ella West.

Ella West was born in New Zealand at Invercargill. She also created many other novel like, Thieves, Anywhere But Here, Real Life, The Thieves Trilogy, Night Vision and lastly Rain Fall. Rain fall is her latest book that she wrote on 2018.

The main character in Rain Fall is 'Annie', Annie is a female horse rider. She has a horse called Blue, Annie has a boyfriend called 'Jack', Jack is also a male horse rider but Jack is more famous that Annie.

I am going to show you two pieces of my tasks that I have finished:

Task: Create a drawing depicting an interesting scene in the text.

The scene that I'm going to draw is when Pete's house exploded, here is my drawing of the scene:

Next task:
Design 5 questions that could be used in a test about the book.
1- Who is the main character in the book? (Answer: The main character in the book is Annie)

2- Who is the author of this book? (Answer: Ella West)

3-What happened in the ending? (Answer: Annie and Jack met Pete on a mountain while they we're walking, but Annie got shot and they went to the hospital and Annie recovered.)

4- Who was the missing boy? (Answer: The missing boy is Annie's childhood friend called Pete.)

5- How did Annie and Jack meet? (Answer: Annie took Blue - her horse to the beach for a walk, and she noticed that someone was following her and it was Jack.)

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you have enjoyed this. Rain Fall is a really good book, you might want to read it!

Heroes Vs Villains Story & Drawing

Hello readers

Welcome back to my blog, today I am going to show you what we have been doing at hurumanu 4. Hurumanu 4 is writing and arts. For the writing, we wrote a hero vs villain story. For drawing we draw the characters that we have in our story, and also the setting.

I had 2 settings in my story, my main setting was the city. The second setting was the abandoned village. The main character in my story was Gia, Gia is a female hero. She has a brother called Zeke, he was also a hero. The villains we're Val and Ezjekiel, they were partners in crime. The background characters were Mira, Salvarine, Diana, Rose and Ian. The powers in my story were called 'Mana', it was named after Lord Mana. Because he was the first person to have a power and he was part of the royal family, he bought peace to the kingdom.

This is my drawings, I only drew Gia and Zeke. I am planning to draw Val and Ezjekiel too.

This is the story that I have been working on, it's a fiction story. Enjoy!

Thank you for reading this post and reading my story, I hope you have enjoyed my story and please give me some feedbacks about my story.

Bye!
